New Year, New Start!

New Year, New Start! We all love the New Years for what it signifies: a new start, another chance and more opportunities. It is always good to kick off the New Year with some brand new resolutions, it gives us something to work for...
While New Year resolutions are very positive, sometimes they don’t work out as we plan them.  It can be that we are setting false expectations or our resolutions might be too general and we don’t know how to get to the BIG GOAL. In other words, we want to sail without knowing how to swim. We need to be mentally, physically and emotionally prepared to work for our goals, we must know our capabilities and layout the steps we need to take in order to get what we want.

True Essence Of Christmas

The true meaning of Christmas, I believe, is Jesus Christ itself. He was born for a purpose and it was sacrificing himself just to save the sinners and imperfect people like me. Christmas is not just about the expensive gifts, new gadgets and branded clothes, but it’s all about the birth of the Man who saved us from the death and payed for our sins. Christmas is all about Him.
I cried in pain to see how people tend to forget the true meaning of it. They were blinded by the culture or the tradition they thought were all correct. What’s more disappointing, is that they are oblivious on their actions. They all thought that it was correct to celebrate that way for they never heard the truth.
So this upcoming Christmas, Let’s celebrate it differently. Let’s celebrate it as how God wanted it to be. Let’s all celebrate Christmas with Him. For Emmanuel has born which means God is with us.
We should make sure that as we celebrate Christmas, God is truly with us.

Equal Rights, Equal Oppurtunity

In order to build a great democratic, just, fair and humane society, it is of utmost importance to arouse the broad masses of our people to join the struggle that will ensure "equal rights, equal opportunities and progress for all".
Genuine equality between women and men, girls and boys can only be realized in the process of a just, fair and humane transformation of our society as a whole. There's need for us to unite and enable women to take their rightful place in production and political activity to improve their economic and political status. There is need to educate ourselves and others to take a more correct view of women and to actively redress the injustices done to women in all our institutions - the Church, state and family. Women must not be treated as mere passive participants in national development. But they must enjoy fundamental rights and freedoms befitting all human beings, both in domestic and public life. Women need to be treated justly in families, work places, public life and the Church. Women are a backbone of our families and play major roles in our economy, especially in rural areas. The life and health of women are of central importance to the future development of our nation. This being the case, the calls for the true empowering of women to enable them to participate in decision making in our society need to be heeded. Women bring special gifts to the progress of our country. If they are not listened to and are discriminated against, then we simply will not have sustainable and equitable progress.  And men should be more involved in promoting women's rights. Advancement will not go very far unless women and girls are enabled to enjoy the same rights and opportunities as men and boys. Women must be represented at decision-making levels in both economics and politics, to sustainable achieve development goals. True empowering of women enables them to participate in decision-making processes in society. One effective strategy towards empowering women is to promote equal opportunity for women's representation in decision-making positions. Women also have the right and duty to take part in the political and administrative work of our nation. Women possess full equality and dignity and have a significant role to play in the affairs of our country.
This discrimination and marginalization of women doesn't make sense even biblically because we are told: "There is not male and female; for you are all one in Jesus Christ" (Gal 3:28).

Responding To Climate Change

The inevitability of changes occurring to the climate at both global and local scales is now a well-established reality. Confidence is currently higher than in previous assessments with regard to projected patterns of warming and other features of a regional scale, including changes in wind patterns, precipitation and some aspects of extremes and sea ice. For poor countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, climate change adds another layer of complexity to already existing development challenges, such as high levels of poverty and inequality, rapid population growth, underdeveloped financial markets and weak governance systems.
Climate research at the Earth Institute spans multiple disciplines. While climate scientists study the effects of increased temperatures and atmospheric carbon dioxide on the world’s oceans and weather patterns, engineers are seeking ways to produce cleaner energy and provide steady supplies of fresh water. Social scientists, policy experts and lawyers are studying human behaviour in the face of change as a way to improve how we make decisions, and the policy and legal tools we can use to implement measures that address the climate challenge. The Columbia Climate centre integrates research from throughout the University and across disciplines to translate the best climate knowledge into practical solutions
In humankind’s pursuit of well-being, we both influence and respond to climate. Anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases affect the heat balance of the Earth, and the resulting changes in precipitation patterns, temperature extremes and rising sea levels affect how society develops. The dynamic interaction between humans and climate is not new, but the scale of the interaction has reached unprecedented proportions.

Reflection

After the first grading period, we move to the second grading. This second grading period first we had learned is about the parts of a browser, part of web page and the page address, this was the first lesson that we learned in this second grading period. Our next lesson is about the HTML file, HTML editors and HTML tags. After we finished to discussed all of this, we made our activities applying those what we have discussed. After that, we moved about the tag attributes. These are the lessons I have learned during the second grading period.
The problems or challenges that I have encountered  this second grading period are the projects that it is very hard to work for it, the activities that are very hard to make for it.
I address this challenges by trying it, analizing it very well and by asking more ideas to my friends, classmates and also to my brother and sisters how to answer it so that I will make a better one.
Eventhough there's a lot of challenges that I have encountered this grading period, eventhough how really hard those challenges, I never gave up to worked for it because I believe in the saying that "If others can why can I".

Scientricity: Energizing Science Clubbers For Sustainable Energy

When we save energy, we also save money. For it reduces the demand for fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas. Such fuels form non-renewable energy sources. So the more we use them the less there is to go around. If we depend solely on them we will reach a point where we will go energy-bankrupt. This is why a lot of research is being done on alternative sources of energy which are also renewable. For instance, wind and solar power are renewable. The sun and the winds are always part of our life. And they are abundantly available in many countries. Also, such energy is clean energy which does not emit carbon dioxide, the main culprit in global warming. Today there are many energy-efficient alternatives for all kinds of appliances. So we have the power to make better choices for reducing our consumption of energy. There are many ways to conserve energy. Instead of using incandescent bulbs, we can use compact fluorescent bulbs. They use only one-fourth the energy of the former. Instead of taking the car of every occasion, we can walk. We could also buy smaller, fuel-efficient cars instead of big gas guzzlers. We should try to avoid the use of plastic by buying reusable products instead of disposable ones. We should recycle as much as possible.
If a nation is truly serious on conserving energy, it should actively work with other nation to save energy.

My Teacher, My Hero

In life, people may come and go, some will be remembered and some are forgotten. But one thing is for sure. I'll never forgot the person who is known as my second parent. Who did efforts for me to gain knowledge, the one who has been my guide for so many years, the one who scolds and corrects me when I am doing wrong, the one who has been there as I face to reach the stepping stones in my life. The one who appreciates my efforts, the one who is always there to feed me a bit-full of information that I might use someday, the one who saves me from this unfair life, where everyone should be feed with the same level of knowledge. The person who sacrifices for our own good, and yet, the laziness that I've shown them, the tiredness that they have seen from me.
After all, they never give up and they never stop to fill us with knowledge and when we are going to fall, they are always there to reach our hand and pull us back and so, the years might have been overthrown, and everything will fade, but they always be my hero for life and for all that efforts and sacrifices that they've done for us. How would life be without our TEACHER???
